Terms and Conditions

Effective date: 31 October 2026

These terms explain what you can expect from Zengia and what we expect from you. We have kept them as short and clear as we can. Questions? Email us at support@zengia.app.

1. What Zengia does

Zengia is smart charging software for electric cars that charge at home. You connect your Tesla through Tesla’s official Fleet API and, if you like, your Enphase solar system through the Enphase API.

You set availability schedules: the times your car may charge. Within those times, Zengia starts and stops charging in the hours with the lowest dynamic energy prices and, if you use solar charging, on surplus solar power. For solar charging, Zengia can also adjust the charging current.

Price data comes from the ENTSO-E Transparency Platform (day-ahead prices).

Zengia works with your existing charger or wall outlet; no extra hardware is needed. Zengia does not sell hardware, does not supply electricity and is not your energy supplier. What you pay for electricity depends on your own energy contract.

Zengia was founded in 2026, is available in 14 European countries and is still being developed. Features may change, and things may sometimes not work as intended.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older.

Only connect a car you own or lease, or for which you have the owner’s permission, and only a Tesla account you are allowed to use.

Only connect an Enphase system you own, or for which you have the permission of the owner and, if someone else lives there, of the occupant.

Keep your login details private and your account details correct. One account per person.

We never ask for your Tesla or Enphase password. You log in directly with Tesla or Enphase, and they give Zengia access.

3. Connections to Tesla, Enphase and ENTSO-E

When you connect your Tesla or Enphase account, you give Zengia access through access tokens. We use them only to provide Zengia.

You can disconnect at any time in Zengia, in your Tesla account or in your Enphase account. After that, Zengia can no longer control or read that car or system.

Tesla, Enphase and ENTSO-E can change, limit or stop their services at any time. We cannot guarantee that Zengia will keep working with them. If a connection stops working, we may have to limit or stop (part of) Zengia.

Your use of your car and solar system remains subject to the terms of Tesla and Enphase.

To carry out your schedule, Zengia may wake up your car. This uses a small amount of energy.

Zengia is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Tesla, Enphase Energy or ENTSO-E. Their names and trademarks belong to their owners and are only used to describe compatibility.

4. What we don’t guarantee

Zengia aims to charge your car in cheaper hours and on solar power, but we do not guarantee:

savings or a particular energy cost;

that your car always charges at the cheapest moment;

a particular battery level at a particular time;

that price or solar data is complete, on time or correct.

Savings and costs shown in Zengia are estimates. If data is missing or late, or a connection fails, charging may not start or stop as planned.

5. What we ask of you

Make sure your car is plugged in, online and set up in the Tesla app so that Zengia can send commands (including the virtual key).

Set schedules and a charge limit that fit your plans, and check before a trip that your car has enough charge. If you need to charge right away, use the Tesla app or change your schedule in Zengia. Zengia’s next scheduled action can start or stop charging again.

Don’t rely on Zengia in emergencies or for anything time-critical.

If you sell your car or may no longer use it, disconnect it from Zengia.

Don’t misuse Zengia: don’t overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer it (except where the law allows), and don’t connect cars, accounts or systems you are not allowed to use.

Safety: Zengia only tells your car when to charge and, for solar charging, how much current to use. It does not make your charger or electrical installation safe. Only charge with equipment certified for your car and an installation that is suitable and properly installed, especially when you use a portable charger on a household socket. Don’t use extension cords or damaged sockets, and follow the manuals of your car and charger. If you notice heat, a burning smell or damage, stop charging and contact a qualified electrician.

6. Liability

We are liable for damage caused by a failure on our part, in line with the law, subject to the rules below.

We are not liable for damage caused by: an outage, error or change at Tesla, Enphase, ENTSO-E or other third parties; your car, charger, socket or electrical installation; your own schedules or settings; use that goes against these terms; or force majeure (see article 7).

We are not liable for indirect damage, such as missed savings, higher energy costs, lost time or the cost of other transport.

7. Availability and force majeure

We do our best to keep Zengia running, but we cannot promise that it is always available. We sometimes need to do maintenance; where possible we announce planned maintenance in advance.

Force majeure includes outages or changes at Tesla, Enphase, ENTSO-E or our hosting and email providers, late publication of day-ahead prices, power or grid outages, measures by the grid operator, and internet outages.

8. Price

Zengia is currently free.

We may introduce paid plans or features later. You will only pay if you explicitly choose a paid plan, after we have told you the price and the conditions, including any right of withdrawal. Free use never becomes paid without your consent.

9. Ending your use and deleting your account

You can stop at any time: delete your account in Zengia under Settings, or email us at support@zengia.app.

When you delete your account, we delete the access tokens we hold and your personal data within 24 hours, except data we must keep by law. You can also revoke Zengia’s access in your Tesla or Enphase account.

We may suspend or close your account straight away in case of misuse, a breach of these terms, a security risk or a legal obligation, or if a connection Zengia depends on is withdrawn. If we decide to stop Zengia altogether, we will tell you at least 7 days in advance where possible.

How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy statement: https://zengia.app/privacy.

10. Intellectual property

Zengia’s software, design, texts and brand belong to us. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use Zengia for private, non-commercial purposes for as long as you have an account. Your data stays yours. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example because of new laws, changes at Tesla or Enphase, new features or security. We will tell you about important changes by email or in the app at least 7 days before they take effect. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account free of charge before then. Changes that are only in your favour or required by law may apply sooner.

12. Applicable law and disputes

Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.

Have a complaint? Email us at support@zengia.app. We aim to respond within 14 days.

If we can’t solve it together, you can go to the competent court. As a consumer you can always go to the court where you live.

13. Other

If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remains valid, and we replace that provision with a valid one that comes as close as possible.

You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer Zengia to another company; we will tell you in advance, and you can then delete your account.

These terms are available in English, Dutch and German. If the versions differ, the Dutch version prevails.
